Reaching Out, Growing Close, Changing Lives Through Jesus Christ

Announcements

~ The Once a Month Bible Study starts on September 16/17 (Monday morning at 10am and Tuesday evening at 7pm, remember the class meets on the third Tuesday of the month and the Monday the day before that Tuesday depending on what class you come to as both are the same).  The subject for the study will be The Miracles of Jesus.  This class will last 3 or 4 months and while touching to a degree on all the important aspects of miracles, the focus and the bulk of the class will be looking at the three types of miracles Jesus performed and what they tell us about Him.  While Pastor Glen is still in the process of formulating this class it will be in many ways a basic Bible study, looking at the miracle stories in the Gospels and allowing God’s Word to inform our thinking about them.  About 20% of the Gospels are miracle stories so we will not be able to study all of them in detail, but all will be touched on.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the Church narthex so please sign up.  If you have any questions please contact Pastor Glen.~ Hygiene Kits for the Homeless. We have a need for more hygiene kits as our supply is low. If you can help, please put together in a large Ziploc-type baggie 1 each of the following items:  toothbrush; travel-size toothpaste; bar of soap; travel-size shampoo; travel-size deodorant; comb; razor; and a wash cloth. (Please note: we are no longer putting shave cream in the kits.) There is a container in the narthex to leave them in when you bring them on Sunday morning.  Thanks for your continued support!  Contact Pam Morton if you have any questions.

Summer Sunday School for Adults. On June 9 we will begin a study of the book "Heroes, Rogues, and the Rest: Lives that tell the story of the Bible" by J. Ellsworth Kalas.  As has become the tradition here at Cedar Grove UMC to allow the Praise Team to come in an hour later than they normally do during the Summer the two adult Sunday school classes will join together for the Summer and study the above book by Kalas.  The class will be led by both Bill Kline and Pastor Glen.  Since reading the book will be the focus of our discussions you need to have a copy of the book and read the Introduction and chapter 1 for the first class on June 9.  If you are interested and need help getting a book, please contact Pastor Glen by May 29th about your intention to attend and/or to get a copy of the book.

~ If you are interested in joining the church, please contact Pastor Glen.

~ Wednesday Night Community Dinners are on Summer Break.  So there are no dinners until they return in September.  Read our newsletter for important news about the dinners.  Volunteers needed.

~ Children’s Sunday School is every Sunday during worship service after the children's message. Our lessons sometimes involve food, so please be sure to let Cindy Rothhaas know if your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions. We can always use middle/high school helpers. Please let Cindy know if you are able to be a helper or if you have any questions at 410-867-2973 or at rrothhaas@comcast.net. The K-5th grade lessons for October are listed on the Children's Ministry Info Page. We need volunteers.  Please see the signup sheet in the Church Narthex if you can help.

~ Tuesday Morning Bible Study. We are studying Genesis. If you would like to join us, please do!  We meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00 am every Tuesday.

~ Have you noticed that the Scripture reading on Sunday mornings is now often done by lay people?  If you would like to read the Scriptures on any given Sunday please let Pastor Glen know.  If someone has not already taken that day, the office will send you an email with the text so you will be ready on Sunday or the pastor always has a printed version of the text at the pulpit.

~ Our live streaming is a real blessing at Cedar Grove!  If you know of anyone that can't make it to church in person on a Sunday, then please invite them to visit online via cgumc.org/live.

~ If you would like offering envelopes, please contact the Church office at 410-867-7417 or by email at office@cgumc.org.

~ Has your address, phone number, or email address has changed recently? If so, please notify the church office.  Thank you.

~ The Church Office is open Monday-Wednesday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you need assistance when the office is closed, please contact Pastor Glen Arnold at pastor@cgumc.org or phone his cell number. The office@cgumc.org email is only read when the office is open.
